Rajasthan Royals (RR) a professional IPL team with its headquarters in Jaipur, Rajasthan which is own by Manoj Badale and The Royals Sports Group. They play at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati as well as Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Under Shane Warne, RR won the inaugural IPL in 2008. They finished second in the 2013 CLT20 (captained by Rahul Dravid) and the 2022 IPL (captained by Sanju Samson and coached by Kumar Sangakkara). After being suspended for two years (2016–17) due to a betting scandal, they returned to the IPL in 2018.[1][2][3][4]
History
In 2008, the Rajasthan Royals were one of the first eight IPL teams. When Emerging Media initially acquired the Jaipur-based team for $67 million, it was the least expensive franchise at the time. Lachlan Murdoch and RedBird Capital Partners are minority owners of the team as of 2024, with Royals Sports Group holding a 65% stake. Ownership disputes have plagued the team, including a brief expulsion in 2010.[5][6]
Home Ground
With 24,000 seats, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur is where the Rajasthan Royals play their home games. The stadium was renovated in 2006 and hosted Royals matches again from the 2018 season after their return from a two-year suspension.[7][8]
Team Colors & Logo
Presently, the team colors for the Rajasthan Royals are royal blue and pink, through which energy, courage, and royalty are expressed. Their logo is that of wearing a crown, signifying strength, leadership, and the fighting spirit of the Royals. This is a reflection of the team's way of being bold and innovative in the IPL.[9]
